Native American money clips, almost all by Navajo artists, most with a sterling silver design or bezel on a nickel body and many set with turquoise. Others feature coral, lapis, spiny oyster or White Buffalo, or plain stamped silver with symbols such as eagles, horses and Kokopelli. Nearly all are handmade and include an original certificate of authenticity.
Navajo Money Clip Designs
Almost all of these clips are Navajo work. The face of the clip carries the design: hand stamping, overlay style cut-outs, or a stone set in a handmade bezel, often with a twisted wire border. Many are signed by the artist on the back. Our Navajo jewelry guide explains the stamping and bezel traditions behind them.
Metals and Stones
Most clips combine sterling silver with nickel: the decorated top layer or bezel is sterling silver, and the spring body is nickel. Some are all nickel or copper and nickel, and a few pair sterling silver with 12k gold filled accents. The metal line on the product page says which part is sterling.
Turquoise is the most common stone; others include coral, White Buffalo, red jasper, lapis, spiny oyster, black onyx and mother of pearl, and some clips combine several stones in one design. See our spiny oyster guide for more on that shell.
Size and Everyday Use
Most clips here are a compact size that fits a front pocket and holds a folded stack of bills; the listing gives the exact dimensions. Slide cash in from the open end rather than prying the clip apart, and avoid overfilling it so the spring keeps its grip. Many listings show a representative photo, so the piece you receive may vary slightly in stone color and pattern.
How to Check Authenticity
Authentic Native American work is made by an enrolled member of a recognized tribe, and selling imitations as Indian-made is illegal under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act. Look for an artist hallmark, a sterling stamp where the metal is silver, and paperwork naming the maker. Our hallmarks guide explains what the stamps mean, and nearly all clips here include an original certificate of authenticity.
Gift Ideas and Care
A money clip makes a practical gift for a father, groom or graduate. Wipe the silver with a soft cloth, keep the stone away from water and cleaners, and store the clip on its own so the face does not get scratched.
